A nasty, rude, and impatient little man, it's a true marvel for the ages that he was able to ascend to his lofty position in the Sultan's court. Yet perhaps it shouldn't be so surprising: Izad's got the silver tongue of a learned flatterer, and when he wants to use it, he can make even the most tight-lipped of people spill their secrets willingly. A gift like that is rarer than water in the furthest reaches of the desert. Yet Izad has come to believe that said gift, along with his many other blessings, was granted to him by Someone from a place much hotter than his arid homeland.

Biography

Born to a middle-class family of mildly renowned civil servants, Izad seemed set up for a happy, if mundane life. But his childhood was troubled, as he was never able to get along with other children. Frequently he was the target of name-calling and bullying by his peers, since he had a thin skin and reacted explosively to the slightest provocation. While his relatives cared for and comforted him in their own way, they were used to children who were free-range, independent, and self-sufficient. In fact, Izad’s own elder brother fit that mold well, thriving despite his family’s distracted style of childrearing. And so young Izad was left feeling neglected, with few coping mechanisms in the face of juvenile torment. That was, until he learned that he could fight back against his persecutors by being twice as mean as they were. This worked wonders, his antisocial behavior easily scaring off those who would taunt and tease…yet he became intensely lonely due to continued friendlessness. His only relief was fantasizing about somehow attaining royal status, and thereby receiving all the love and reverence he could ever want from the common folk of Bardahroud. That tragic isolation continued into his teenage years, only abating when he reached young manhood.

By his early twenties he had successfully put away childish things, devoting his lonely hours to courtly studies in an effort to live up to his illustrious ancestor’s modest legacy. He was promoted through the court relatively fast due to his prodigious work ethic (with perhaps a generous helping of nepotism), and soon enjoyed the pleasant yet distant company of colleagues. In spite of early personal adversity, he blossomed into a considerate, quiet civil servant who surpassed even his elder brother’s performance. He was the pride of his family at last, and felt as though he’d earned their undivided attention with his accomplishments. But that happy time came to a swift end, thanks to an infected wound and the sepsis that soon followed.

Feverish and delusional, Izad clung to life for days on his sickbed. At last he felt himself slipping away. He passed on, dragged from his body into the infernal depths by shadowy servants of evil. The time had come to repay the Prince of Darkness for granting him worldly successes, or so he was told. And then he awoke from that restless dream.

During his recovery, his family made only rare visits. They had other things on their minds, such as his elder brother’s upcoming marriage. With the hated isolation returning, he cried and sulked alone. The old familiar petulance came back with a vengeance, and his weary mind lapsed back into the temperament he’d possessed in childhood. These changes went unnoticed by his neglectful family, who were satisfied that their most accomplished son had survived his illness and could return to court duties. But he soon put them out of his mind, in favor of studying arcane texts and the ancient dark arts that now captured his interest. Now that he knew the infernal source of his good fortune, he wanted to learn more about it. Those childhood dreams of being royalty didn’t seem so fantastical anymore, not with the abilities demon-blessed sorcerers were rumored to have. The fire of ambition burned anew in him, and with his wicked new skills he was able to become Grand Vizier within months.

Even today, Izad still believes he’s been granted the Devil’s own luck and will one day rule supreme over the sultanate. But there’s also no doubt in his mind that after enjoying earthly glory, he must willingly submit to fiery damnation in return. The prospect now fills him with an irresistible, gleeful arousal…along with a strange hint of fear. But why should he be so afraid of his eternal benefactor, the Prince of Darkness?

Appearance

Facial features:
His untrusting, paranoid eyes stare out from beneath thick, groomed eyebrows; the dark circles beneath them speak of nights filled with restless dreaming and scheming alike. However, his gaze is somewhat softened by his prominent, pretty eyelashes. He also has an upturned nose, and a mouth that tends to scowl when in a resting expression.
Hair:
He possesses a full head of dark, soft hair, though he isn't the absolute hairiest man otherwise. He works hard to shape his moustache, and his pointed beard is a source of obvious pride for him. In his eyes, he looks quite stylish.
Body:
Scrawny, with frontal paunchiness that demonstrates how much of a luxurious life he leads in the Sultan's palace. His shoulders are slim, and his hips are slightly wider.
Fashion:
In a strange attempt to appear larger and more intimidating than he is, he wears clothes that are too large for him. He didn't bother to have his official vizier's robe altered to fit him, preferring to wear it as-is in the size the last vizier wore. For footwear, he tends to prefer the traditional woven galesh, though with the peculiar addition of a higher heel. Rarely is he ever seen in public without his adorned turban, as he feels it enhances his political image and lends him an air of sophistication. His favored colors for clothing are red, green, yellow, and gold.
Accessories:The golden necklace he wears is an heirloom passed down to him by his grandmother. According to family lore, it's the very same necklace his ancestor Mani purchased for his wife upon being rewarded for contributing to the Sultanate. As many issues as he's had with his family, he treasures this connection to them.

Personal Life:

Social Desperation
Deep down inside, he's still a frightened, lonely child that only wants love. He clings voraciously to those rare souls who befriend him, and at the slightest sign of their abandoning him, he'll beg for them to remain in his life. There's no limits to the ridiculous lengths he'll go to: he will do anything, absolutely anything, to keep them around. He's also quite handsy when around a person he considers a friend, frequently putting his arm around them or wanting to hold their hand when they walk together. Contrary to his unapproachable, prickly exterior, he's also very much a hugger and a snuggler.
Administrative Talents
Surprisingly, he’s quite decent at general scribal work. While pushing papers is quite boring to him as of late, it’s a task he can accomplish without much effort. He does descend from a long line of civil servants, after all. He's also a gifted planner, able to concoct elaborate schemes in a relatively short time.

Miscellania
  • He doesn’t hesitate to let others know how far beneath him they are, dishing out entitled rudeness on the daily to poor unfortunates in his way.
  • More often than not, the slightest obstacle or inconvenience is enough to send him into a full-on tantrum. These are intensely uncomfortable for witnesses to tolerate.
  • Tightfisted to a fault, he haggles aggressively with merchants unless they have something that he feels drawn to. Then he will often leap to make the purchase, easily tricked into paying far more than its true worth simply to acquire it for a scheme.
  • He can and will order torture or impalement to be visited upon someone for the slightest of infractions. He will also personally, and happily, watch to make sure the sentence is carried out the way he wants it to be.
  • For such a nasty sadist, he can become quite squeamish at unpredictable moments. Ergo, he doesn't like to do his own dirty work, preferring to persuade others to handle the icky stuff for him.
  • He's got a complex about being so short, despite the fact that everyone in his family tends towards the smaller, more petite end of the height scale. All his shoes tend to be raised to some extent.
  • His sleep hygiene is an absolute disaster, and has been for years. Inadequate rest may be at the root of some of his impatience and general irritability, besides brain damage from his bout of sepsis.
  • His hackles raise whenever he's called a Bardahrene. The term is antiquated and is seen as derisive by some Bardahroudish folk, as it originates from the time when their sultanate was a city-state contested over by more powerful neighboring empires.
  • He's secretly a very kinky man. Nevertheless, he blanches and goes into desperate denial whenever he's accused of being a pervert.

    Intimate Body Info:
  • 🍆 Size: Modest at best. Izad will forever protest that he's "a grower, not a shower." Then he'll pout and say that being large down there is a barbarian trait anyway.
  • 🍑 Size: Compact, curvy, and…cute. He's more than a bit self-conscious about how bottom-heavy he is for a man.
